In 1926 Evelyn Waugh visited Newe in August and attended the Lonach Gathering. He was accompanied by his friend Alastair Graham. Alastair and his Mother Jessie were friends with the Forbes family and appear in a number of their pictures.

The first picture is the only record of the visit and Bettine makes no mention of the presence of Evelyn Waugh. The visit to the doctor can be seen in details in the link below.

The Next picture is of ‘Ben Newe’ the name given to the old laundry of Newe Castle. The family moved there after abandoning the castle and took may artefacts with them

The third picture shows the living room which was described by Evelyn Waugh.

He final picture is of a drawing made by Alastair Graham in 1927 showing the start of the demolition of the castle.
