Following a successful Heritge meeting sponsored by the National Park at Boat of Garten, interest was stimulated to increase the activity of the association. It was agreed to consider mapping the ruined sutes in the glen and attempt an archealogical dig at one of the sites. To this end we had an impromptu walk to the site at Delfrankie, where there had been and old inn. We also explored the site of the wollen mill at Bridge of Buchat. We had a good attendance of the young and mor mature and were assisted by Bill Thomson whi had farmed the area for many years. It is hoped to arrange further Heritage walks in the future.
Site developments

The Glenbuchat archive site is gradually expanding and changing its nature. Originaly a site for displaying photos it has expanded to include many pages of text and maps. Another big change is that the site has now its own personal web site address and that is www.glenbuchatheritage.com. We have had a few comments and conrtibutions to the site but many more would be welcome.
Welcome to Glenbuchat Heritage

A warm welcome to visitors to the inauguration of the Glenbuchat Heritage Photo Library. Glenbuchat is a picturesque Glen in Strathdon Aberdeenshire. It is a Glen of fascinating history, natural beauty and wildlife. It had suffered a dramatic population fall until recently, with a drop in the population from 500 to 50 souls. Recently, however, there has been a resurgence of people living in the Glen, both young and mature, all delighting in the beauty and natural resources of the glen. Following a successful photographic exhibition in the Glen in 2008 ('In The Buchat') a significant collection of photographs old and new were collected which highlighted the history of the glen. Following this a Glenbuchat Heritage Association was formed and the introduction of this website gives us a means of sharing our heritage with you. We will be pleased to hear of any stories about the Glen or have photgraphs downloaded for the Albums. Please get in touch
