105 Receipt from Glenbucket Woolen Mill1882 receipt for a woolen blanket from 'Kemp & Strachan, Woolen Manufacturers, Montgarie & Bridge of Bucket' to farmer John Dawson of Glen Kindie
The Kemp's ran Woolmills all over the area - Craigievar, Rhynie, Montgarrie, Bridge of Buchat and Aboyne. But where, oh where, was the Bridge of Buchat mill ?

Page 83 of "The Queens Scotland" The Eastern Counties by Nigel Tranter pub. Hodder and Stoughton 1972 simply says "There was a small woollen mill at Inverbuchat". This would suggest the point where the Buchat meets the Don and quite likely to be the building pictured no.641

A reply was received which said:
"This (copy)receipt came to me in the post from a lady following an appeal I put in the 'Deeside Piper' many years ago, asking for any information on the 'Kemps', whose extended family ran woolmills at Craigievar, Dess (Aboyne), Rhynie, Montgarrie, Bridge of Buchat. The family had started out as workers at Garlogie Mill, Skene in the late 1700's/early 1800's. "
Many thanks to the contributer
