At the turn of the 19th and 20th Century, Sir Charles Forbes 5th Baronet of Newe developed a colour photographic process which was a technical success but not a financial success. His process was adopted by Alice Hughes the Royal Court Photographer and it was used to take some photographs of various members of Royalty.
Sir Charles took a large number of photos of his family and Newe Castle.
They were displayed in a custom-made storage and viewing cabinet

Due to the passage of time the gelatin like coating of the slides was starting to peel away.
The Slides were photographed at Newe and a degree of repairs were made to the digital images to give the impression of a complete slide.
They are all now displayed on this Web Site

To preserve the slides for posterity in November 2023 the Slides were donated to the Special Collections of the Aberdeen University Library and Museums where they will be preserved and catelogued.
