
Blairnamuick (Strathdon), Bldr nam muc, "field of the pigs."
If you look at a 1930 map you will see two roads down Glen Nochty from the split at the road to Auchernach. At that time both were equal importance. Prior to that, both roads were populated with occupied farms and houses. Now the east road is tarred and there are occupied houses on it. The west road, which crosses the bridge built by Nathaniel Forbes and goes down the west side of the Nochty, is now only a rough track and devoid of occupied houses or farms until you reach Lost farm. All that exists are ruins and ‘ghosts’ see entry on Belnaboddach
If you travel the road and turn the corner after going uphill from the bridge you come to a forestry plantation. Just inside the middle of the plantation are some ruins of a small settlement. This is all that remains of Blairnamuck, no longer marked on modern maps since 1850 but marked on Roy’s Military map of 1747

At one time the property at Blairnamuck must have acted as a school because in the list of schools maintained by The Society in Scotland for propagating Christian knowledge in the year 1757 it is recorded
