Portrait of James William Barclay of Glenbuchat Oil on canvas, signed, 1902 119cm x 100cm Note: The New Gallery Exhibition 1903 label verso. This portrait depicts James William Barclay of Glenbuchat, Scottish businessman, farmer and politician who bought the Glenbuchat Estate in 1901, where he pioneered experiments in new scientific farming methods. This portrait was completed in 1902 at a time when the prominent "Glasgow Boy" was in great demand for his skills as a portrait painter
