18 Alexander Walker Picture 1869

Above is a framed photo of Alexander Walker. On the back is written:
“Yours truly
Alexander Walker
Castle Newe
1869”

This is the year before he left for the USA and was probably a present for the family before he went.

The following three pages of photos are thought to be of Alexander Walker and his family and friends in Williamstown USA.

In 1870 Alexander emigrated to the USA and in 1880 he purchased a small steading on the Berlin Road, Beechdale Farm, south west of Williamstown.

I am grateful to John Pire of Westhill Aberdeen for the photos. They were rather faded thus the less than perfect result when they were reformatted. John is a descendant of the Shaw family, Jane Shaw being Alexander’s wife. John has done extensive research into the Shaw family
