I am not positive about Charles Elrick but I would say probably 95% sure it is him. He had a brother John McBain Elrick who was the Father of Larry Elrick who lived at Gardeners Cottage in Bellabeg. Larry was my mothers cousin.

Further to Sylvia's information. The photo appears in Charles Christies book - Stray Memories of Strathdon, printed in 1938, opposite page 26, and is captioned - A Squatter.
Mr Christie was an estate factor for many years (not sure which estate). When he retired, he put down his account of some aspects of the history of Strathdon and its estates. He wrote a section on the old squatter colonies of the Strath and included this photo. He did not say who the man was or where the photo was taken. We now have a name for the man. Are there any more details on Mr Elrick? I seem to remember being told his holding was in Glen Nochty?
